Meet the Winners of Our Steampunk Pin-to-Win Contest

The right honorable judges at SteampunkGoggles.com have been reviewing all the entries submitted to our Pin-to-Win contest, and we are ready and excited to announce the winners! The contest put out a call to all Steampunk lovers to create a Steampunk board on Pinterest using a combination of pictures from our site, hashtags, captions, and other Steampunk photos. Each entry was judged on creativity, composition, and, of course, following the rules. It was very hard to choose between so may great boards but in the end we did narrow it down to first, second, and third place!

Here are the bios and boards of our three winners! Congratulations to them and thanks to all of our entrants!

 

Third Place Winner:

How long have you been into Steampunk? about 2 years!
Do you have a Steampunk costume/character? If so, tell us about it. I do not
What inspired you to enter the contest? I love Steampunk decor, jewelry, and pretty much all aspects of Steampunk!  I was browsing the awesome goggle selection when I came across the contest and thought “why not!?”

What was your strategy when you were putting together the board? My strategy was mainly to just pin items I would want to wear, display in my home, or what I thought captured the Steampunk vision!
Are there any pins you’re particularly proud of? My favorite pins are the Steampunk twist on Alice in Wonderland etc! I love the Steampunk aspect in stories we have all known in a different way!
Why did you choose the prize goggles you did? I chose the goggles I did because pirates are cool!
What are your plans for your new goggles? To be awesome and wear em to a party!

How long have you been into Steampunk? I have appreciated Steampunk before it was cool
Do you have a Steampunk costume/character? Before now my costume was always made up of found objects. I was a supporting role player.
What inspired you to enter the contest?  Interacting with other Steampunk artists online encouraged me to get deeper into Steampunk art and led me to your blog.

What was your strategy when you were putting together the board?  A varied Steampunk experience, to share the love and adventure of Steampunk
Are there any pins you’re particularly proud of? I particularly like the animals, fairy and very inventive creations such as the mousetrap and jetback. I also have a fondness for Top Hats and Journals.

Why did you choose the prize goggles you did? I chose the Robin Hood goggles. Something about them kept calling me back, above all the others. It could be the green color, with its nature element.
What are your plans for your new goggles? I will wear them as I am writing fiction, planning new inventions in my workshop, to Renaissance Faires and festivals, and whenever I need to brighten my mood. I will also allow the dog to wear them.

How long have you been into Steampunk? I would say that I have been into steampunk for about a year. I live in a Victorian town, and in a Victorian house built in 1883. I am infatuated with the Victorian era. Add the sci-fi element, which makes steampunk fantastic and awesome.
What inspired you to enter the contest? I thought it would be a fun challenge to enter the contest.
What was your strategy for putting together the board? Color was my inspiration.
Why did you choose the prize goggles you did? I chose the lace and pearl, because they are tough with a feminine edge.
What are you plans for your new goggles? I am going to use them. I will probably build a look around them..
